Growing up, my gift in the arts led me into a career in design where I joined the corporate world of creating. I loved it, but always felt something was missing.
In 2008, I participated in a nine-week binational bicycle trek, with 100 other riders, to raise awareness and funds to help end the cycle of poverty. I now had an idea of the direction my heart was leading me. This monumental experience inspired me to take a professional U-turn and leave the corporate world to pursue a career in philanthropy.
I returned to school and left, not only with a BA in Human Rights and Human Diversity, but with a growing heart for justice and a desire to do more. I then united my love of design with my passion for making a positive impact within the charitable sector.
Over the years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work alongside various international partners and NGOs gaining valuable skills in building strategic relationships with diverse community groups. In addition, I’ve garnered unique and extensive experience in design and marketing for print, web, and social media, as well as experience in communication, event coordination and fundraising.
I’ve always had a strong desire and passion for helping others. It fuels me to know that what I am doing is making a difference in a life, in a community and in the world.
A fundraising leader once shared with me a simple, but inspiring explanation of what fundraising really is and how lucky we all are to play a piece in the process. “Fundraising isn’t about asking for money – it’s about uniting people with their passion and desire to help others in a tangible way and the organizations that can make that impact with their support.” I have pressed that understanding upon my heart and am honoured to now be a part of that process here at Good Works. I’m excited to be a part of something bigger than myself.
