Why am I a fundraiser? Because I get to tell stories.
It’s almost a cliché to say, but effective fundraising really does depend on great storytelling. And I think I have a keen ear for it. At Good Works, I get to connect with important causes and inspirational people, and then help them tell their stories in ways that’ll captivate others. It’s meaningful work, and it’s deeply creative. And I especially love the end of the stories—how together we made a difference.
Here’s my story. I grew up in the Rocky Mountains, where I somehow managed to make it through childhood without once being mauled by a grizzly bear. Fast forward to university, where I got a degree in English lit and later a diploma in communications. Tried my hand in the corporate sector for a bit, then moved to Ottawa and started my career in non-profit. At stops in between I’ve been a theatre critic, a college radio DJ, a Habs fan, a specialist in crowdfunding, a bass player and songwriter, a crafter of limericks, and a situational user of the Oxford comma. Oh, and a pretty lucky dad.
Today, I’m proud to be part of the Good Works team, and I look forward to helping you tell your story too.
