I grew up on the edge of the Rouge River in Scarborough – what my high school friends affectionately called the “East Pole” of Toronto. I could literally go canoeing or ice skating from my house and I had a great blue heron who lived at the end of my “yard”. I loved the deep connection to nature it instilled in me, the quiet understanding that everything has a quiet purpose. Yet when I moved downtown to attend U of T, I knew I could never go back to the quiet. The frenetic noise has a purpose too.
I was lucky enough to have a front-row seat for the birth of the internet just as I was beginning my career in marketing. To say that the digital world seduced me would be an understatement. Yet it wasn’t until the mid-2000’s that I had my first experience with online marketing for the not-for-profit sector and not long after that until I first dipped my toe in fundraising.
Since then, I’ve gone all the way down the rabbit hole of multi-channel, multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns that have changed more lives than I can count. It is such an incredible feeling to be able to use my digital knowledge to benefit people. I cannot imagine doing anything else.
I’ve managed entire marketing and digital programs for some of Canada’s largest charities and the interconnectivity of marketing, communications, and fundraising is my specialty. I am the mortal enemy of silos.
Over my years at Good Works, I have had the incredible opportunity to bring my digital expertise into the direct mail and legacy space, creating full integrated strategic donor experiences for organizations of all shapes and sizes. I’m blown away by the expertise and teamwork that resides at Good Works and I am proud to contribute my passion and creativity to the mix.
Are you ready to take the red pill and follow me down the rabbit hole?
